Welcome

I just picked up my crochet hook again after 30 years. I used to make afghans but now I’m making stuffed toys. (Entering into my second childhood perhaps?) This craft is known as Amigurumi, the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and other creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. I love to collect patterns and my goal is to live long enough to complete them all!

Florida Flamingo???

Have you ever seen a flamingo in Florida?  Aside from a plastic one that is.  I bet you never saw one made of yarn either...until now.  Here are a couple that I made thanks to a free pattern by Amigu Amigurumi.

If you happen to see a large pink wading bird in Florida it is most likely a roseate spoonbill. Flamingos are not native here and although there may be a few escapees from private wildfowl collections, they do not breed in Florida.
