This is one of my favorite patterns from Red Heart. It was so much fun to make. I'm planning to make a boy beach bear to go with her.
Welcome
I just picked up my crochet hook again after 30 years. I used to make afghans but now I’m making stuffed toys. (Entering into my second childhood perhaps?) This craft is known as Amigurumi, the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and other creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. I love to collect patterns and my goal is to live long enough to complete them all!

High Top Slippers
I know these aren't amigurumi, but I wanted to make something fun that is also useful. These are an adult size medium. I also made a pair in pink and grey which I gave as a Christmas gift.

Florida Flamingo???
Have you ever seen a flamingo in Florida? Aside from a plastic one that is. I bet you never saw one made of yarn either...until now. Here are a couple that I made thanks to a free pattern by Amigu Amigurumi.
If you happen to see a large pink wading bird in Florida it is most likely a roseate spoonbill. Flamingos are not native here and although there may be a few escapees from private wildfowl collections, they do not breed in Florida.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!
Here are a couple of Leprechauns I made. One was very easy..took only a few hours..the other a bit more difficult. Which do you like better?

Tortoise
This guy is made from 6 granny squares sewn together. The legs have pipe cleaners inside enabling him to stand upright.
Real Gopher tortoises can range in length from about 10 - 15 or 16 inches and can weigh about 30 pounds. They are primarily herbivores and feed on many species of low-growing plants and they live upwards of 100 years. Says a lot about a plant based diet! :)
Thanks to Brigitte Reed for the pattern. http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/2008/02/granny-square-t.html

Valentine's Day Crochet
This Little Elephant was finished just in time for Valentine's day. Pattern is by Teri Crews. My first crocheted elephant...certainly not my last. I love elephants!
This Danish Heart pattern by Allison Baker is actually a puzzle that is crocheted in two ovals and put together. It forms a small pocket that can be used to hold candy, flowers or just about anything. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it came out! It would even make a nice Christmas Tree ornament.
Happy Little Car, Plane and Truck
These were fun to put together...although there were a lot of pieces to be sewn making it quite time consuming. The patterns are available on the Red Heart site.
